My roof is leaking! Will insurance cover this?

Insurance companies can pay to repair or replace your roof if it is leaking if the leaking is caused by an event that is covered by your insurance policy. You should check with your agent or insurance representative to see what is and isn't covered in your policy. Insurance Companies have different policies that cover various events: Hail Damage, Wind Damage, Flooding, Fire, and etc. Some insurance companies restrict coverage on other events or "perils".

If you're in North Texas and reading this, you'll also want to take into account your insurance deductible which is your contribution before any insurance kicks in. For example if you have a $5,000 deductible, and you receive roof repair estimates from reputable contractors to fix your leaking roof for $2,000 then you probably shouldn't file an insurance claim.

Construction costs soaring with inflation and supply chain constraints, and so are insurance rates! I know ours have gone up substantially over the last couple years, so we recommend to call licensed insurance agent for advice on the best policies for your needs every year.
